ABOUT SUE
A creative her whole life Sue passionately threw herself into raising a family and building her profession as an Early Childhood Teacher where she inspired an engagement with art and the natural environment through pedagogy and art programs with her young students.
Previously from the Blue Mountains and Sydney, Sue has always immersed herself in the natural environment and together with her husband and their fur kid, has spent time exploring the natural beauty from the beaches to the hinterland.
But, finding her heart and home in Bonny Hills on the Mid North Coast of NSW Sue now has the freedom to immerse in the natural environment which she brings through powerfully in her work. When not ensconced in her home studio working on significant pieces you will find her out and about developing her next project.
Sue is part of the local art scene where she exhibits and sells her work and assisted the Bonny Hills Progress Association in launching their Inaugural Art Prize in 2022.
Sue says it best: “Painting is the language of my soul and my artworks reflect the elements and natural scapes that resonate with me, evoking an emotion or the essence of my lived experience – strength, grounding, resilience, and optimism. Expressionism and colour are woven throughout my visual journey. I like to paint on a large format canvas to give the viewer a grounding to the country in which the nature scape sits. I often record the place in our world that has inspired me on the back of the canvas with geographical coordinates to honour not only the piece but to entice the new owner to explore that place themselves. I hope you enjoy the journey!”
